THE
CELTIC ORTHODOX CHURCH DENIES MARY IS
MEDIATRIX
OF ALL GRACES

THE
ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH OFFICIALLY TEACHES MARY IS
THE
SOLE ARBITER AND DISPENSER OF ALL GOD’S GRACES.
THE
CELTIC ORTHODOX CHURCH BELIEVES JESUS IS THE SOLE ARBITER AND DISPENSER OF ALL
GRACES THAT COME TO MANKIND.
“None,
O Mother of God, obtains salvation except through thee, none receives a gift
from the throne of mercy except through thee.” (Leo XIII: Adiutricem populi, September 5,
1895) — [p. 19, no. 44]
“The Catholic Church has
always and with justice put all her hope and trust in the Mother of God.” (Leo
XIII: Encyclical, Supreme Apostolatus, September 1,
1883.) — [p. 32, no. 104]
“... Yet our manner of
praying to the Blessed Virgin has something in common with our worship of God so
that the Church even addressed to her the words with which we pray to God: ‘Have
mercy on sinners.’” (Leo XIII: Encyclical, Augustissimae, September 12, 1897.) [p. 68; no.
302]
Celebrated
‘Mariologist’, Father William Most, notes this
teaching is part of the infallible Magisterium of the Roman Church. It is just
such as this that Christ spoke of when He said, “THEY TEACH AS DOGMA WHAT IS
ONLY HUMAN PRECEPTS”
==================================
The
ancient church condemned the Collyridians when they
first taught this and now it is the official teaching of the Roman Catholic
Church. How could this change have
occurred?
The
idea of Mary as Mediatrix of all graces originated in
the East and was quickly denied by the universal church in the fourth
century. What changed was some
Popes, starting in the 19th century, began to listen to the various
Saints who spoke to the issue of the role of the Blessed Mother in the Economy
of our Salvation. The Popes even
quote many of these Saints when they defined the term, Mary Mediatrix of all graces.
This
is the formal definition of the term from various Popes and how it is understood
in the Roman Catholic Church.
Immediately below the definitions of the Popes is a comment by noted
Marian Theologian Father William Most.
Below
the comment from Father Most is the origin of the doctrine in the writings of
the various Saints.
THE
OFFICIAL DEFINITION OF THE TERM
MEDIATRIX
OF ALL GRACES
"The
Catholic Church has always and with justice put all her hope and trust in the
Mother of God." (Leo XIII: Encyclical, Supreme Apostolatus, September 1, 1883.) - [p. 32, no.
104]
"...
Yet our manner of praying to the Blessed Virgin has something in common with our
worship of God so that the Church even addressed to her the words with which we
pray to God: 'Have mercy on sinners.'" (Leo XIII: Encyclical, Augustissimae, September 12, 1897.) [p. 68; no.
302]
Leo
XIII, Encyclical, Octobri mense adventante, Sept 22, 1891,
ASS 24, 1891, 196: "...
nothing
is imparted to us except through Mary,
since God so wills, so that just as no one can come to the Father except through
the Son, no
one can come to Christ except through His Mother.”
Leo XIII, Encyclical, Iucunda semper, Sept 8, 1984. ASS 27, 1894. 179: ‘Every grace that is communicated to
this world has a threefold course. For by excellent order, it is dispensed from
God to Christ, from Christ to the Virgin, from the Virgin to us. ‘” (Internal
quote from S. Bernardine, Sermon on Nativity of B. V. M. n. 6).
Leo XIII, Encyclical, Diuturni temporis spatium, Sept 5, 1898, ASS 31, 1898, 146: “For from her, as
in a most abundant conduit, the drafts of heavenly graces are given: ‘… in her
hands are the treasures of the mercies of the Lord; for God wills that she be
the principle of all good things. ‘”(Internal quotes are from St. John
Damascene. Series I De Nativitate Virginis and St. Irenaeus, Against Valentinus III. 33).
Leo
XIII, Parta humano generi, Apostolic Letter, Sept 8, 1901, ASS 34, 1901, 195:
“So may the most powerful Virgin Mother, who once ‘cooperated in love that the
faithful might be born in the Church’, be even now the means and mediatrix of our salvation.”(Citing St. Augustine, De sancta
Virginitate 6).
St. Pius X, Encyclical, Ad diem illum, Feb. 2, 1904, AAS 36,
1904. 453-54: Now from this common
sharing of will and suffering between Christ and Mary, she ‘merited to become
most worthily the Reparatrix of the lost world’ [Eadmer, De Excellentia Virginis Mariae, 9] and therefore
Dispensatrix of all the gifts which Jesus gained for
us by His Death and by His Blood… . But Mary as St.
Bernard fitting remarks [De Aquaeductu 4. ]
is
the ‘channel’ or, even, the neck, through which the body is joined to the head,
and likewise through which the head exerts its power and strength on the body.
‘ For she is the neck of our Head, by which all
spiritual gifts are communicated to His Mystical Body”’ [St. Bernardine of
Siena, Quadrag. De Evangelio
aeterno, Sermo X, a. 3. C.
3. ]
Benedict XV, Litterae Apostolicae, Inter Sodalicia, March 22, 1918, AAS 10, 1918, 182: “one can truly
affirm that together with Christ she has redeemed the human race. For this
reason, every kind of grace we receive from the treasury of the redemption is
ministered as it were through the hands of the same Sorrowful Virgin,..
Benedict XV, Encyclical, Fausto appetente die, June 29, 1921, AAS 13, 1921, 334: “For he
[St. Dominic] knew well that Mary… has such influence with her divine Son, that
He confers whatever of graces He confers on humans, does so always with her as
minister and decision-maker [administra et arbitra].”
Pius XI, Apostolic Letter, Galliam, Ecclesiae filiam, March
2, 1922, AAS 14, 1922 186: “She, the Virgin Mother, [is] the treasurer [sequestra] of all graces with God.”
Pius XI, Apostolic Letter, Exstat in civitate, Feb. 1, 1924,
AAS 16 1924, 152: “It is clear that many Roman Pontiffs… have stirred up
devotion among the nations to the most clement Mother, the Virgin Mary, the
Consoler of the afflicted, and the treasurer [sequestra] of all graces with God.”
Pius XI, Apostolic Letter, Cognitum sane, Jan 14, 1926, AAS 18, 1926, 213: “We, to whom
nothing is dearer than that the devotion of the Christian people be aroused more
and more towards the Virgin who is the treasurer [sequestra] of all graces with God, think we should grant
these wishes.”
Pius XII, Radiomessage to Fatima, Bendito
seja, May 13, 1946, AAS 38, 19465, 266: “… And her kingdom is as vast as that of
her Son and God, since nothing is excluded from her dominion.”
John XXIII, Epistle to Cardinal Agaganian, Legate to Marian Congress in Saigon, Jan 31,
1959, AAS 51, 1959, “Did
not the Lord will that we have everything through Mary?”
Discorsi II, 66: “From her hands hope for all graces.”
THE
FOLLOWING COMMENT IS WRITTEN BY FATHER MOST, THE LEADING ROMAN CATHOLIC MARIAN
THEOLOGIAN, (OF BLESSED MEMORY)
No
Council has the right to cancel previous papal teaching, especially when that
teaching, on the ordinary Magisterium level, is repeated.
FOR
SUCH REPEATED TEACHING IS INFALLIBLE
The following papal texts cited above
speak in varied ways of her as Mediatrix of all
graces: Leo XIII, especially texts 3 and 4: "nothing at all of that great
treasury of all grace... is imparted to us except through Mary.... every grace
has a threefold course...." St. Pius X: especially texts 9 and 10: "Dispensatrix of all the gifts." She is the "neck" of the
Mystical Body. Benedict XV text 12: "Whatever of graces He confers....always
with her as minister and decision-maker". Pius XI, texts 13. 14. 15: "treasurer
of all graces". Pius XII, text 18: "nothing is excluded from her dominion". John
XXIII, text 19: "Did not the Lord will that we have everything through Mary?"
Again,
since a
doctrine repeatedly taught on the Ordinary Magisterium level is infallibly taught -
so many repetitions of this doctrine mark it as infallible.

IDOLATRY
Mary
is the key to the gates of Heaven.
St. Ephrem
Open
to us, O Mary, the gate of Paradise, since you have its keys! St. Ambrose
God
has entrusted the keys and the treasures of Heaven to Mary. St. Thomas Aquinas
No
one can enter heaven except through Mary, as entering through a gate.
St. Bonaventure
Mary
is called "The Gate of Heaven" because no one can enter Heaven but through her
means. St. Alphonsus Maria Liguori
HOLY
SCRIPTURE WAS WRITTEN FOR MARY, ABOUT MARY AND ON ACCOUNT OF MARY. St. Bernard (This is St. Bernard of Clairvoux who is among the worst of Marian
Extremist)
She
is the stairway to Heaven, and the gate of Paradise! St. Lawrence
Justinian
All
the saints have a great devotion to Our Lady: no grace comes from Heaven without
passing through her hands. We
cannot go into a house without speaking to the doorkeeper. Well, the Holy Virgin is the doorkeeper
of Heaven. St. John Mary Vianney
ALL
GIFTS, VIRTUES AND GRACES OF THE HOLY SPIRIT ARE ADMINISTERED BY THE HANDS OF
MARY TO WHOMSOEVER SHE DESIRES AND WHEN SHE DESIRES AND IN THE MANNER SHE
DESIRES AND TO THE DEGREE SHE DESIRES.
St.
Bernadine of Siena
She
opens the abyss of God's mercy to whomsoever she wills, when she wills, and as
she wills. [...] All men; past,
present, and to come, should look upon Mary as the means and negotiator of the
salvation of all ages. St.
Bernard
Through
you, Most Holy lady, all glory, honour, and holiness
vouchsafed to the human race from Adam to the last ages has been granted, is
being granted, will be granted to apostles, prophets, martyrs, and all the just
and humble of heart.
St. Ephrem
Mary
is the dispensatrix of all the graces God bestows on
man. St. Bernadine of
Siena
No
man is delivered or preserved from the world-wide snares of Satan except through
Mary; and God grants His graces to no one except through her alone. St. Germanus
of Constantinople
Every
grace granted to man in this life has three successive steps: from God it comes
to Christ, from Christ to the Virgin, and from the Virgin it descends to
us. St. Bernadine of
Sienna
All
graces that have ever been bestowed on men, all of them came through Mary. St. Antoninus
Every
grace and blessing possessed by the Church, all the treasures of light,
holiness, and glory that abide in her, on earth as well as in Heaven, all are
due to the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary. [...] Let us acknowledge, then, that her heart
is the origin of everything noble, rich, and precious in all the holy souls who
form the universal Church in Heaven and on Earth. It is the source of salvation. St. John Eudes
The
Lord has placed in Mary the plenitude of all good, so that if any hope, or
grace, or salvation is in us, we know that we derive it all from Mary. St. Bernard
Mary
became for herself and for all men the cause and foundation of
salvation. St. Francis de
Sales
Mary
desired, sought, and obtained the salvation of everyone; nay, she even effected
the salvation of everyone! St.
Alphonsus Maria Liguori
All
those who, to the end of time, shall receive the blessing of our heavenly Father
shall receive their graces only as a result of their perfect obedience to May.
St. Louis Marie de
Montfort
Many
have proved invincibly, from the sentiments of the fathers - among others: St.
Augustine, St. Ephrem, St. Cyril of Jerusalem, St.
Germanus of Constantinople, St. John Damascene, St.
Anselm, St. Bernard, St. Bernadine, St. Thomas, and St. Bonaventure - that
devotion to Our Most Blessed Virgin is necessary for salvation, and that it is
an infallible mark of reprobation to have no esteem or love for the Holy Virgin
while, on the other hand, it
is an infallible mark of predestination to be entirely and truly devoted to her.
The figures and words of the Old and New
Testaments prove this. The
sentiments and examples of the Saints confirm it. Reason and experience teach and
demonstrate it. Even the devil and
his crew, constrained by the force of truth, have often been obliged to avow it
in spite of themselves. St. Louis
Marie de Montfort
O
Lady, since thou art the dispenser of all graces, and since the grace of
salvation can come only through thy hands, our salvation depends on thee. St. Bernadine of
Siena
O
Most Holy Virgin, receive us under thy protection if thou wouldst see us saved,
for we have no hope of salvation but through thy means. St. Ephrem
O
Mary, we poor sinners know no other refuge but thee, for thou art our only hope,
and on thee do we rely for our salvation.
St. Thomas of Villanova
Mary
is the whole hope of our salvation.
St. Thomas Aquinas
The
foundation of all our confidence is found in the Blessed Virgin Mary. God has committed to her the treasury of
all good things, in order that everyone may know that through her are obtained
every hope, every grace, and all salvation. For this is His will: that we obtain
everything through Mary. Ven. Pope
Pius IX
Sinners
receive pardon by the intercession of Mary alone. St. John
Chrysostom
Only
at the intercession of Mary do sinners obtain forgiveness. [...] They receive pardon only by the
intercession of Mary. St. Peter
Chrysologus
You,
O Lady, were filled with grace, so that you might be the way of our salvation
and the means of ascent into the heavenly kingdom. St. Athanasius
A
mediator, then, was needed with the Mediator Himself, nor could a more fitting
one be found than Mary. St.
Bernard
We
need a mediator with our mediator. Council of Rheims
She
is the mediator between us and Christ, just as Christ is the mediator between us
and God. St.
Bonaventure
You
must intercede, O Lady, because God, Who placed His Son as mediator between man
and Heaven, has placed you as mediator between His Son and guilty man! St, Alphonsus
Maria Liguori
As
the moon is placed between the sun and the earth, so is Mary stationed between
God and us, to pour out His graces continually upon us. St. Bernard
Every
grace which is communicated to this world has a three-fold origin: it flows from
God to Christ, from Christ to the Virgin, and from the Virgin to us. [...] Nothing comes to us but by the mediation
of Mary, for such is the will of God.
Thus, just as no man goes to the Father but by the Son, so likewise no
one goes to Christ but through His Mother.
Whoever will not have recourse to her is trying to fly without wings.
[...] O Virgin Most Holy, no one
abounds in the knowledge of God except through thee; no
one O Mother of God, attains salvation except through thee. Pope Leo XIII
To
reach the Eternal Father, we must go to Jesus, our Mediator of Redemption.
[...] To go to Jesus, we must go to
Mary: she is our Mediatrix of Intercession.
St. Louis Marie de
Montfort
As
you cannot come to God but by means of Jesus Christ, you likewise cannot come to
Christ except by means of His Mother. [...] As we have to access the Father only by
means of the Son, so do we have access to the Son only by means of the
Mother. St. Alphonsus Maria Liguori
By
the will of God nothing is conferred upon us except by means of Mary; and just
as no one is able to approach the Most High Father except through His Son, so
too no one approaches Christ but through Mary His Mother. St. Maximilian
Mary
Kolbe
We
cannot approach Jesus but through Mary; we can see Jesus and speak to Him only
by means of her. St. Louis Marie de
Montfort
For,
since it is the will of divine Providence that we should have the God-Man
through Mary, there is no other way for us to receive Christ except from her
hands. Pope St. Pius X
Our
sanctity depends on the degree of our nearness to Mary. She
is the nearest to God, and if we are nearest to her then we will therefore be
nearest, through her, to God Himself.
St. Maximilian Mary Kolbe
What,
then, is the conclusion we must draw from the teaching and practice of the
Church? It is this: our
salvation must be wrought in Mary. Ven. William Joseph Charminade
The
way of salvation is open to no one except through Mary. St. Alphonsus
Maria Liguori
________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The
truth of the matter is devotion to the Mother of Christ (Christotokos) is a good thing, a God pleasing thing and
helpful to our salvation. That
which appears above is false devotion and a lie spawned by the devil and the
ignorant.
Mary
has replaced Christ in this aberrant theology. Extremism does a dishonor to Mary and is
a blasphemy before God.
