(128) Mar Julius I (Antonio Francis Xavier Alvares) was consecrated July 28, 1889, by Paulose Mar Athanasius, under authority of Patriarch Ignatius Peter III

to Western Rite Orthodox Christians of Ceylon, Goa and India.

(129) Joseph Rene Vilatte was consecrated on May 29, 1892 in Columba, Ceylon at Our Lady of Good Death Cathedral by Mar Julius I, under authority of a Bull of Mar Ignatius Peter III, to serve Western Rite Orthodox Christians in North America.


With the sanction of the Patriarch Ignatius Jacobus II having first been obtained, on 2nd June 1866, Mar Julius, Metropolitan Bishop of Emesa (later became Patriarch Ignatius III) consecrated Jules Ferrette as Bishop Julius for the Celtic Orthodox Church and gave him the title of Bishop of Iona (Ireland) and its Dependencies. This consecration, in Syria, was witnessed and the instrument of consecration was verified before the British Consul at Damascus. Bishop Julius was dispatched to erect an indigenous Celtic Orthodox Church in Western Europe, one not in any way subject to Antioch.

 

Joseph Rene Vilatte consecrated Louis Prota Giureleo Miraglia Gulotti on May 6, 1900 who in turn consecrated Josef Zielonka on November 16, 1913.

 

Metropolitan +Joseph (Zielonka) on October 15, 1950 at Sts. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church in Springfield, Massachusetts co-consecrated Bishop +Peter Andreas (Zhurawetzky) .

 

In 1978, Archbishop +Peter  (Zhurawetsky) assisted by Greek Archbishop +Joachim (Souris) and Greek Bishop +Lavrentios (Maniatakis) consecrated Metropolitan +Nicholas (Llnyckyj) O.S.B. for the Athonite Benedictine Fathers.

 

May 13, 1989, Metropolitan +Nicholas (Llnyckyj) assisted by Bishop +Christopher (Jones) and Bishop +David (Quilliams) consecrated Metropolitan +Yuri (Spaeth) O.S.B. for the Athonite Benedictine Fathers in Bell, Florida.

 

On January 17, 1999 Metropolitan Archbishop +Yuri (Spaeth) O.S.B. assisted by Archbishop +Matthew (McCarthy) O.S.B. consecrated Bishop +Michael Damian-Benedict (Palladino) O.S.B.  for the Latin Orthodox Benedictine Fathers, Monastery of St. John the Divine in Orlando, Florida. 

 

On April 25, 2001, Bishop +Michael Damian-Benedict, (Palladino) O.S.B. (A Schema Benedictine Monk) assisted by Bishop +Martin-Benedict (Tindall) O.S.B. and Bishop +Brendan Nuadha (Donovan) O.S.B. at the Latin Orthodox Benedictine Monastery of St. John the Divine in Orlando, Florida according to the Roman Pontifical of 30 March 1892 consecrated Bishop + Brian Joseph Kennedy, O.S.B. (a Schema Benedictine Monk) for the Celtic Orthodox Benedictine Fathers and the Celtic Orthodox Church in the United States.
