Van Rompuy vs. Farage-Round Two

The UKIP sends out these little news snippets each day, but I thought this one kind of stands out a bit, so to keep you chaps informed, here it is: -

Quote:From the official website:

EC President Herman van Rompuy has walked into a wall of criticism after calling Euroscepticism 'a lie' in a speech on Wednesday.

Mr van Rompuy – famously branded a "damp rag" by UKIP Leader Nigel Farage – told a German audience: "We have together to fight the danger of a new Euro-scepticism. This is not longer the monopoly of a few countries.

"In every member state, there are people who believe their country can survive alone in the globalised world. It is more than an illusion: it is a lie!

"Today’s nationalism is often not a positive feeling of pride of one’s own identity, but a negative feeling of apprehension of the others. The time of the homogenous nation-state is over."

Responding to van Rompuy's comments, Mr Farage said: "Mr van Rompuy is unfit to govern. As I warned last year, this man is an overpaid catastrophe who wants to abolish our nation. The only non-nation is Belgium, his own country."

"Nation states will not disappear because they are the expression of peoples' will. The EU is swimming against the tide of history. The number of nation states in the world is increasing all the time."

So we have two different ideologies clashing here, but what else? Why for example would he be addressing a German audience? Is he worried? It looks like he could be. Our great nation seems to be gaining the upper hand in the argument these days. A year or two ago it was Blighty vs. the rest of the EU universe, but then they had elections and elections have been happening elsewhere as well, like in Holland for example. Did you see the election in Holland? Then of course we have Germany. What is going on in Germany and why is it that Nigel Farage seems to be the guest of honour in that county? Hmm, could it have something to do with the German’s economic problems? You can’t keep asking a rich country to keep paying for the EU’s deliberate financial mistakes indefinitely. The Germans are turning, so to are the Czechs and the Dutch, and even believe it or not the French are not so happy either. What does that leave? Oh yes the beggars. All the beggar counties are on board, or at least their leaders are?
