The
Sabbath - What Saith The Word
The Sabbath - What Saith The Word

10 Big Questions
(From the Good News of the Kingdom)
The Christ's Assembly at O.C. California
INTRODUCTION:
My name is Lesley and I prepared this research paper(a careful,
systematic study and investigation in some field of knowledge,
undertaken to establish facts or principles-Webster’s Dictionary) on the
sabbath, using the Bible(The Word of God or Elohim) as my primary
source. I have added two paragraphs from the International Standard
Bible Encyclopedia. My paper is simple and straight from the Word,
except for the two paragraphs concerning the history of the church’s
observance of the sabbath from the time of the resurrection of Christ.
My comments and my opinions are kept to a minimum and are not meant to
add or detract from the Word; but, only to clarify, with the help of the
Holy Spirit.
At first, I wrote this paper using only the Word , except for the
questions, to keep my opinions and others’ opinions out of it as much as
possible. My object was not to anger anyone or to argue with anyone as
to when they were to go to church, but to try to show from the Word what
Father has promised to those who obey His commandments concerning the
sabbaths. Father Yahweh wrote the Bible and I used direct quotations
from the Bible to show what Father has said concerning this subject.
These are His words and His promises to those who observe the sabbath
according to His commandments.
It grieves me that Satan has stolen the rewards promised to us by
Father for being faithful to His commandment to keep the sabbath holy.
The church’s attempt at observance of the sabbath on sunday and their
refusal to hear any of the Word concerning the observance of the sabbath
on the seventh day of the week is only one example of the depth of the
deception which has been inflicted upon the church as a body to blind
them to the truth and to confuse and complicate the issue and thereby
keep the church in ignorance and in poverty of the rewards promised to
us by Father. They do not even know or understand their own history
concerning the observance of the sabbath. This is why I felt it
appropriate to add the two paragraphs from the International Standard
Bible Encyclopedia.
The essence of my paper is that Father has made several wonderful
promises to those who keep the sabbath holy; the sabbath is the seventh
day of the week; it is a perpetual covenant to those who choose to take
hold of His covenant and keep His sabbaths; He has not changed those
promises and as Christians and heirs of salvation if we choose to take
hold of His covenant and keep His sabbaths we will also receive those
rewards in His promises to the sabbath keepers.
There is not one word in my paper or in the Bible about your
salvation depending upon whether you observe the sabbath. I do not know
why the church tries to argue this point. It is obviously a thought that
Satan has put in their minds to stir up strife and confuse the issue by
getting them off point.
It does not matter to me if you choose to go to church on Sunday;
that is not observing the sabbath on Sunday, anyway. Observing the
sabbath is doing all the things commanded in the Bible such as not
working, not doing your own things or thinking your own thoughts, not
buying or selling, and resting only in Him, delighting yourself in Him
only, on the seventh day of the week which God sanctified forever. What
does matter to me is that the rewards promised to you by Father for
observing the sabbath have been stolen from you by Satan and will never
be yours as long as you continue to close your mind to God’s Word. This
is not works and it is not legalism. We are not trying to gain our
salvation by observing the sabbath, but only to gain the rewards
promised in the Word to sabbath keepers.
The reasons which the church gives for going to church on Sunday are
seemingly well intentioned; however, they are not the commandments of
Father, but the traditions and doctrines of men. There is nothing wrong
with going to church on Sunday as a day of Bible study. But it is not to
replace observing the Sabbath on the seventh day.
Please read my paper with all of the above in mind, keeping your mind
stayed on a loving Father who has promised good to you. And may Yahweh
bless and keep you, may Yahweh make His face to shine upon you and give
you peace. And may His Holy Spirit comfort you and bring you to the
knowledge of all truth.
Your loving brother in Christ,
Lesley Boyle
p.s. The original Hebrew names, which I have used, have a greater
depth of meaning, as all Hebrew words do, and add so much richness to
your understanding of the scriptures. The words God, Lord and Jesus are
English names. There is nothing wrong or sinful in using these words,
but you miss out on the depth of knowledge and understanding that comes
when you understand the meanings of the original Hebrew names;
Elohim(The three-in-one, the creative force)(God), Yahweh(He, who
is everything, has made covenant with you to share with you all that He
is and has) (LORD), and Yahshua(The Son who came in His Father’s
name, Yahweh Shua- Yahweh’s salvation- or Yahshua for short)(Jesus), "I
came in my father’s name". The letter ‘J’ did not exist in any language
until 300 years ago. The Greek word "Iesus" for the Hebrew "Yahshua" was
changed to Jesus 300 years ago when the letter ‘J’ was substituted for
the letter "I" in ‘Iesus’. Our Heavenly Father knows more about the
history of our ignorance than we do. He understands baby talk, as it
were, just our earthly parents understood and smiled when we tried to
talk as babies. He looks only at what is in our hearts. However, there
comes a time when we all have to grow up in the spirit, just as we do in
the body and in the soul. May Yahweh bless you and may you have ears to
hear.

Question #1: What day of the
week is the sabbath?
Exod 20:10
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of Yahweh thy Elohim: in
it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy
manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that
is within thy gates:
Lev 23:3
3 Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath
of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the
sabbath of Yahweh in all your dwellings.
Definition of Sabbath: (Vine’s Expository Dictionary)
Shabat ^7673^, "to rest, cease." This word occurs about 200
times throughout the Old Testament. The root also appears in Assyrian,
Arabic, and Aramaic.
The verb first occurs in <Gen. 2:2-3>: "And on the seventh day God
ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh
day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh
day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all
his work which God created and made."
The basic and most frequent meaning of shabat is shown in <Gen.
8:22>: "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and
heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."
This promise became a prophetic sign of God's faithfulness: "If those
ordinances depart from before me, saith the Lord, then the seed of
Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever"
<Jer. 31:36>.
We find a variety of senses: "...even the first day ye shall put
away leaven out of your houses..." <Exod. 12:15>. "Neither shalt
thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking
from thy meat offering" <Lev. 2:13> NASB, KJV, NIV, "do not leave out".
Josiah "put down the idolatrous priests..." <2 Kings 23:5>. "I
will also eliminate harmful beasts from the land" <Lev. 26:6>
NASB, KJV, "rid"; RSV, NIV, "remove".
B. Noun.
shabbat ^7676^, "the sabbath." The verb sabat is the root of shabbat:
"Six days you are to do your work, but on the seventh day you shall
cease from labor..." <Exod. 23:12>, NASB, KJV, "rest". In
<Exod. 31:15>, the seventh day is called the "sabbath rest" (NASB, "a
sabbath of complete rest").
A man's "rest" was to include his animals and servants <Exod. 23:12>:
even "in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest" <Exod.
34:21>. "It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever:
for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day
he rested, and was refreshed" <Exod. 31:17>.
"...Then shall the land keep a sabbath unto the Lord" <Lev. 25:2>.
Six years' crops will be sown and harvested, but the seventh year "shall
be a sabbath of rest unto the land, a sabbath for the Lord..." <Lev.
25:4>. The feast of trumpets, the Day of Atonement, and the first and
eighth days of the Feast of Tabernacles are also called "a sabbath
observance" or "a sabbath of complete rest" <Lev. 23:24,32,39>.
The "sabbath" was a "day of worship" <Lev. 23:3> as well as a "day of
rest and refreshment" for man <Exod. 23:12>. God "rested and was
refreshed" <Exod. 31:17>. The "sabbath" was the covenant sign of God's
lordship over the creation. By observing the "sabbath," Israel confessed
that they were God's redeemed people, subject to His lordship to obey
the whole of His law. They were His stewards to show mercy with kindness
and liberality to all <Exod. 23:12; Lev. 25>.
By "resting," man witnessed his trust in God to give fruit to his
labor; he entered into God's "rest." Thus "rest" and the "sabbath"
were eschatological in perspective, looking to the accomplishment of
God's ultimate purpose through the redemption of His people, to whom the
"sabbath" was a covenant sign.
The prophets rebuked Israel for their neglect of the sabbath <Isa.
1:13; Jer. 17:21-27; Ezek. 20:12-24; Amos 8:5>. They also proclaimed
"sabbath" observance as a blessing in the messianic age and a sign of
its fullness <Isa. 56:2-4; 58:13; 66:23; Ezek. 44:24; 45:17; 46:1,3-4,
12>. The length of the Babylonian Captivity was determined by the extent
of Israel's abuse of the sabbatical year <2 Chr. 36:21>; cf. <Lev.
26:34- 35>.

Questions #2 and #3: Who created the sabbath and when
was it created?
"Elohim blessed the seventh day and sanctified it."
Gen 2:2-3
2 And on the seventh day Elohim ended his work which he had
made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he
had made.
3 And Elohim blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it:
because that in it he had rested from all his work which Elohim created
and made.
Exod 20:11
11 For in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, the sea, and all
that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yahweh
blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Answer: Yahweh sanctified or set apart(created) the sabbath on the
seventh day of creation.

Question #4: Whose sabbath is
it?
Exod 20:10-11
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of Yahweh thy Elohim: in
it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy
manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that
is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Yahweh made heaven and earth, the sea, and all
that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the
Yahweh blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Deut 5:14
14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of Yahweh thy Elohim: in
it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor
thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass,
nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that
thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
Answer: "The seventh day is the sabbath of Yahweh thy
Elohim."
"The seventh day is the sabbath of Yahweh thy
Elohim."
(It is not the Jews’ sabbath or the children of Israel’s sabbath. The
sabbath was created for man, all men, at the time of creation after man
was created. At this point there was no Israel and there were no Jews.)

Question #5: Who is to observe the sabbath, the children
of Israel only or all Christians?
"The children of Israel shall keep the
sabbath,....,for a perpetual covenant."
Exod 31:16-17
16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to
observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual
covenant.
17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever:
for in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he
rested, and was refreshed.
"Unto the eunuchs...Also the sons of the stranger,
that join themselves to Yahweh,..."
Isa 56:1-8
1 Thus saith Yahweh, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my
salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
2 Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that
layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it,
and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
3 Neither let the son of the stranger, that hath joined himself to
Yahweh, speak, saying, Yahweh hath utterly separated me from his people:
neither let the eunuch say, Behold, I am a dry tree.
4 For thus saith Yahweh unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths,
and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;
5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a
place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them
an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.
6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to Yahweh,
to serve him, and to love the name of Yahweh, to be his servants, every
one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my
covenant;
7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful
in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall
be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an
house of prayer for all people.
8 Adonai Yahweh which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet
will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him.
(As Yahweh and his salvation, Yahshua, are for all men who accept and
love Him; so, also, is the sabbath of Yahweh for all men, Christians,
who take hold of His covenant and join themselves to Yahweh, to serve
Him and to love the name of Yahweh. As Christians, are we not at least
equal to eunuchs and sons of strangers?)
"Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that
are gathered unto him."
Gal 3:29
29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs
according to the promise.
Ps 105:6-10
6 O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his
chosen.
7 He is Yahweh our Elohim: his judgments are in all the earth.
8 He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which
he commanded to a thousand generations.
9 Which covenant he made with Abraham, and his oath unto Isaac;
10 And confirmed the same unto Jacob for a law, and to Israel for an
everlasting covenant:
Rom 8:14-17
14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of Elohim, they are the
sons of Elohim.
15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear;
but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba,
Father.
16 The Spirit himself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are
the children of Elohim:
17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of Elohim, and joint-heirs
with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also
glorified together.
Titus 3:7
7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made
heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Heb 1:14
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister
for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
Heb 6:17
17 Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of
promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:
Answer: "The children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe
the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant." and
as Christians are we not counted among those "that join themselves to
Yahweh, to serve him, and to love the name of Yahweh, to be his
servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and
taketh hold of my covenant;" ;however, we are not "the sons of the
stranger" , but "the sons of Elohim" for "ye have received the Spirit of
adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.", "we are the children of
Elohim", "and if children, then heirs; heirs of Elohim, and joint-heirs
with Christ" and "if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and
heirs according to the promise", and "being justified by his grace,
we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life." and
of "them who shall be heirs of salvation" and "the heirs of promise",
"Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in
my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be
accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house
of prayer for all people.".

Question #6: How are we to observe the sabbath?
"keep it holy."
Exod 20:8
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exod 31:14-17
14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you:
every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever
doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his
people.
15 Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of
rest, holy to Yahweh: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath
day, he shall surely be put to death.
16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to
observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual
covenant.
17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for
in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he
rested, and was refreshed.
"The seventh day shall be to you an holy day."
Exod 35:2
2 Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day there shall
be to you an holy day, a sabbath of rest to Yahweh: whosoever
doeth work therein shall be put to death.
"In it thou shalt not do any work."
Exod 20:10-11
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of Yahweh thy Elohim: in it
thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter,
thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger
that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, the sea, and all
that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yahweh
blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Deut 5:14-15
14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of Yahweh thy Elohim: in it
thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor thy
manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass, nor any of
thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that thy
manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and
that Yahweh thy Elohim brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and
by a stretched out arm: therefore Yahweh thy Elohim commanded thee to
keep the sabbath day.
Exod 34:21
21 Six days thou shalt work, but on the seventh day thou shalt
rest: in earing time and in harvest thou shalt rest.
Jer 17:21-26
21 Thus saith Yahweh; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden
on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem;
22 Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath
day, neither do ye any work, but hallow ye the sabbath
day, as I commanded your fathers.
23 But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their
neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction.
24 And it shall come to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, saith
Yahweh, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the
sabbath day, but hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein;
25 Then shall there enter into the gates of this city kings and
princes sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on
horses, they, and their princes, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants
of Jerusalem: and this city shall remain for ever.
26 And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places
about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and
from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, and
sacrifices, and meat offerings, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of
praise, unto the house of Yahweh.
"I testified against them in the day wherein they
sold victuals."
Neh 13:15-18
15 In those days saw I in Judah some treading wine presses on the
sabbath, and bringing in sheaves, and lading asses; as also wine,
grapes, and figs, and all manner of burdens, which they brought into
Jerusalem on the sabbath day: and I testified against them in the day
wherein they sold victuals.
16 There dwelt men of Tyre also therein, which brought fish, and all
manner of ware, and sold on the sabbath unto the children of
Judah, and in Jerusalem.
17 Then I contended with the nobles of Judah, and said unto them,
What evil thing is this that ye do, and profane the sabbath day?
18 Did not your fathers thus, and did not our Elohim bring all this
evil upon us, and upon this city? yet ye bring more wrath upon Israel by
profaning the sabbath.
Answer: "The seventh day there shall be to you an holy day,
a sabbath of rest to Yahweh" "in it thou shalt not do any work,
thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy
maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy
gates:", "on the seventh day thou shalt rest" and "turn away thy foot
from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the
sabbath a delight, the holy of Yahweh, honourable; and shalt honour him,
not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking
thine own words" and "keep it holy". According to Nehemiah we are also
not to buy or sell on the sabbath.

Question #7: Why are we to observe the sabbath and by
whose command?
"I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of
the earth."
(The sabbath is not a commandment to be kept just out of a sense of
duty or fear of punishment, but it is to be a delight and to be observed
out of reverence and love for our heavenly Father, Yahweh. And as a
result of having chosen to take hold of His covenant and having chosen
the things that please Him, He will honor His covenant and reward us.)
Isa 56:4-7
4 For thus saith Yahweh unto the eunuchs that keep my sabbaths,
and choose the things that please me, and take hold of my covenant;
5 Even unto them will I give in mine house and within my walls a
place and a name better than of sons and of daughters: I will give them
an everlasting name, that shall not be cut off.
6 Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to Yahweh,
to serve him, and to love the name of Yahweh, to be his servants,
every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting
it, and taketh hold of my covenant;
7 Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful
in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall
be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an
house of prayer for all people.
Exod 31:14
14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you:
every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever
doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his
people.
Isa 58:13-14
13 If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy
pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy
of Yahweh, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways,
nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words:
14 Then shalt thou delight thyself in Yahweh; and I will
cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with
the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of Yahweh hath spoken
it.
By whose commmand?
Deut 5:12
12 Keep the sabbath day to sanctify it, as Yahweh thy Elohim hath
commanded thee.
Deut 5:14-15
14 But the seventh day is the sabbath of Yahweh thy Elohim: in
it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, nor
thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thine ox, nor thine ass,
nor any of thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates; that
thy manservant and thy maidservant may rest as well as thou.
15 And remember that thou wast a servant in the land of Egypt, and
that YAHWEH thy ELOHIM brought thee out thence through a mighty hand and
by a stretched out arm: therefore YAHWEH thy ELOHIM commanded thee to
keep the sabbath day.
Answer: "Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is
holy unto you." "Then shalt thou delight thyself in Yahweh; and I
will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee
with the heritage of Jacob thy father" ; "Even them will I bring to my
holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt
offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for
mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people.";
"therefore YAHWEH thy ELOHIM commanded thee to keep the sabbath day."

Question #8: By whose command did we change the sabbath
to the first day? Where in the scriptures is Yahweh’s command to change
the sabbath to the first day of the week?
"The seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to
Yahweh."
(When did it become no longer holy to Yahweh? Remember, He sanctified
it and hallowed it."
"The Son of man is Sovereign even of the sabbath day."
(If He is Sovereign of the sabbath day, what right
or authority do we have to change that day from the seventh day of the
week, which he commanded us to observe as the sabbath, to the first day
of the week?)
Matt 12:8-13
8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the
sabbath day.
9 And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:
10 And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they
asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they
might accuse him.
11 And he said unto them, What man shall there
be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on
the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?
12 How much then is a man better than a sheep?
Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.(If
the sabbath was not to be kept anymore, why would He concern Himself
with teaching us what is lawful to do on the sabbath?)
13 Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth
thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole,
like as the other.
Yahshua observed the sabbath.
Yahshua taught about the sabbath.
Matt 24:20
20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on
the sabbath day:
Mark 1:21
21 And they went into Capernaum; and straightway on the sabbath
day he entered into the synagogue, and taught.
Mark 2:27-28
27 And he said unto them, The
sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
(Since the sabbath was made for man(all men), why have we chosen to
forget it? As long as man exists, Yahweh’s day of rest for man will
still exist.)
28 Therefore the Son of man is Sovereign
also of the sabbath.(Why would he concern Himself with
being sovereign of a day which no longer exists or which we are no
longer required under the law to keep?)
Mark 3:4
4 And he saith unto them, Is it lawful to do
good on the sabbath days, or to do
evil? to save life, or to kill? But they held their peace.
Mark 6:2
2 And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the
synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence
hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto
him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?
Luke 4:16
16 And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as
his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and
stood up for to read.
Luke 4:31
31 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them
on the sabbath days.
Luke 6:9
9 Then said Yahshua unto them, I will ask you
one thing; Is it lawful on the sabbath days to do good, or to do
evil? to save life, or to destroy it? (Again, I ask you,
if the sabbath was to be no longer a day to be kept holy, no longer a
day of rest, no longer a day hallowed by Yahweh, no longer a day to obey
all of Yahweh’s commandments concerning the sabbath, why would Yahshua
concern Himself with teaching what is lawful or not lawful to do on the
sabbath? Why would He call the sabbath the sabbath, if the sabbath was
to be no more?)
John 7:23
23 If a man on the sabbath day receive
circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye
angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath
day?
(If a male child became eight days old on the sabbath, he was
required to be circumcised, even on the sabbath, by the law of Moses.)
Gen 17:10-13
10 This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between me and you and
thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised.
11 And ye shall circumcise the flesh of your foreskin; and it shall
be a token of the covenant betwixt me and you.
12 And he that is eight days old shall be circumcised among you,
every man child in your generations, he that is born in the house,
or bought with money of any stranger, which is not of thy seed.
13 He that is born in thy house, and he that is bought with thy
money, must needs be circumcised: and my covenant shall be in your flesh
for an everlasting covenant.
Mal 4:4-6
4 Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded
unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments.
5 Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the
great and dreadful day of the Yahweh:
6 And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the
heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth
with a curse.
(It would appear from this scripture that we are to remember the law
of Moses up until the great and dreadful day of Yahweh. But you say, the
law of Moses was for Israel. Then, why do you observe all of the ten
commandments except the fourth?)
John 9:14
14 And it was the sabbath day when Yahshua made the clay, and
opened his eyes.
(Yahshua made it a point to show us that the sabbath is a day for
restoring sight to the blind, healing the sick, and setting the captives
free, as a type and shadow of the final fulfillment of the sabbath when
He returns the second time to put an end to death, disease and the
bondage of sin.)
John 14:31
31 But that the world may know that I love
the Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do.
Arise, let us go hence.(Since His Father hallowed the sabbath and
sanctified it and gave commandment to keep it holy, how could Yahshua
not keep the sabath?)
John 15:15
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the
servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends;
for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto
you.(Did Yahshua say we were not to observe the sabbath?)
Quite to the contrary, He said,...
Matt 23:2-3
2 Saying, The scribes and the Pharisees sit in
Moses' seat:
3 All therefore whatsoever they bid you
observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they
say, and do not.
Matt 5:20
20 For I say unto you, That except your
righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and
Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
(The scribes and Pharisees were known for their
knowledge of the law, but they kept the law for outward appearances only
and were hypocrites.)
Matt 23:28
28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye
are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.
Luke 12:1
1 In the mean time, when there were gathered together an innumerable
multitude of people, insomuch that they trode one upon another, he began
to say unto his disciples first of all, Beware ye of the leaven of the
Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.
(However, since they did sit in Moses’ seat, they
did bid everyone to observe all the law of Moses, which included
observing the sabbath.)
"Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy."
(We are commanded again and again throughout the scriptures to keep
the sabbath holy.
It is a direct commandment from Yahweh.)
Exod 20:1-17
1 And Elohim spake all these words, saying,
2 I am Yahweh thy Elohim, which have brought thee out of the land of
Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of
any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or
that is in the water under the earth:
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I
Yahweh thy Elohim am a jealous Elohim, visiting the iniquity of the
fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them
that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my
commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of Yahweh thy Elohim in vain; for
Yahweh will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of Yahweh thy Elohim: in
it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy
manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger
that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, the sea, and all
that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yahweh blessed
the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon
the land which the Yahweh thy Elohim giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery.
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet
thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his
ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
The only thing that can abrogate, rescind or change
a direct commandment of Yahweh is another direct commandment of Yahweh.
There are two problems with changing the sabbath
from the seventh day to the first day of the week. First there is no
commandment to do so, and second, there will never be one; for He saith,
"For I am Yahweh, I change not;" Mal. 3:6
And again,
17 Think not
that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to
destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily
I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall
in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever
therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach
men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but
whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the
kingdom of heaven. Matt 5:17-19
(Consider carefully the eternal consequences of your actions
before you ever even think about teaching someone not to observe the
sabbath.)
"After that he through the Holy Ghost had given
commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen."(Now I ask you, where
is the commandment that He gave them to change the observance of the
sabbath ? If he had given
the apostles a new commandment to observe the
sabbath on the first day of
the week following his resurrection, would they not
have then immediately written this new commandment into the new
testament scriptures?)
Acts 1:2
2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through
the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had
chosen:
1Thes 4:2-9
2 For ye know what commandments we gave you by Yahweh Yahshua.
"The first and great commandment."
Matt 22:37-40
37 Yahshua said unto him, Thou shalt love
Yahweh thy Elohim with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with
all thy mind.
38 This is the first and great commandment.
39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt
love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 On these two commandments hang all the law
and the prophets.
Mark 12:29-31
29 And Yahshua answered him, The first of
all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; Yahweh our Elohim is one
Yahweh:
30 And thou shalt love Yahweh thy Elohim
with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and
with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.
31 And the second is like, namely this, Thou
shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment
greater than these.
(In addition to these two commandments, Yahshua mentions five others
in Matthew 19, again in Mark 10 and again in Luke 18.)
Matt 19:16-21
16 And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good
thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
17 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me
good? there is none good but one, that is, Elohim: but if thou wilt
enter into life, keep the commandments.
18 He saith unto him, Which? Yahshua said,
Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not
steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and,
Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
20 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my
youth up: what lack I yet?
21 Yahshua said unto him, If thou wilt be
perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou
shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
(Now I ask you, which of the ten commandments did He not mention?)
Exod 20:1-17
1 And Elohim spake all these words, saying,
2 I am Yahweh thy Elohim, which have brought thee out of the land of
Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness
of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath,
or that is in the water under the earth:
5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I
Yahweh thy Elohim am a jealous Elohim, visiting the iniquity of the
fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them
that hate me;
6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep
my commandments.
7 Thou shalt not take the name of Yahweh thy Elohim in vain; for
Yahweh will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of Yahweh thy Elohim: in it
thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy
manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that
is within thy gates:
11 For in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, the sea, and all
that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore Yahweh blessed
the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
***********.(These 5 below are the commandments mentioned by
Yahshua.)
12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon
the land which the Yahweh thy Elohim giveth thee.
13 Thou shalt not kill.
14 Thou shalt not commit adultery
15 Thou shalt not steal.
16 Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
***********
17 Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not
covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor
his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
Since Yahshua did not mention the commandments
above which I have highlighted in boldface type, can we forget about
obeying all of these except the ones He mentioned in Matthew, Mark and
Luke? But you say, don’t forget about the two great commandments to love
Yahweh with all your heart, soul and mind and to love your neighbor as
yourself. The first three commandments of the ten are covered by the
great commandment to love Yahweh with all your heart, soul, and mind.
And the last of the ten commandments is covered by the commandment to
love your neighbor as yourself, you say. And well you have said, for
this is so. But, I ask you, is it not Yahweh’s sabbath, did He not bless
it and hallow it, and is this not His commandment to be kept in
remembrance of His great work of creation?
Are we not commanded to keep our heart, soul, and
mind stayed on Him on the sabbath and to delight ourselves in Him? Can
you think of a better way to show your love to Him and for Him? Why
would you even consider setting aside such a beautiful show of respect,
love and admiration for your Heavenly Father?
John 14:15
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
John 14:21
21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth
them, he it is that loveth me: and he
that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and
will manifest myself to him.
John 15:10
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall
abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and
abide in his love.(He kept the sabbath. He kept all the
commandments because He had to be the perfect sacrificial lamb, without
blemish, in order to fulfill the law and take our sins upon him and take
our place upon the cross.)
I Jn 2:3-4
3 And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his
commandments.
4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a
liar, and the truth is not in him.
II Jn 1:6
6 And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This
is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should
walk in it.
I Jn 3:22-24
22 And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we
keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his
sight.
23 And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of
his Son Yahshua Ha Mashiach, and love one another, as he gave us
commandment.
24 And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in
him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which
he hath given us.
I Jn 5:2-3
2 By this we know that we love the children of Elohim, when we
love Elohim, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of Elohim, that we keep his commandments:
and his commandments are not grievous.
Rev 12:17
17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with
the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of Elohim,
and have the testimony of Yahshua Ha Mashiach.
Rev 14:12
12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the
commandments of Elohim, and the faith of Yahshua.
Rev 22:14
14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have
right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the
city.
If there is no commandment from Yahweh to change
the sabbath to the first day of the week or to not observe it at all,
where do you suppose the idea came from to change it?
Ps 119:127-129
127 Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine
gold.
128 Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be
right; and I hate every false way.
129 Thy testimonies are wonderful: therefore doth my soul keep them.
Matt 15:9
9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching
for doctrines the commandments of men.
Titus 1:14
14 Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of
men, that turn from the truth.
SABBATH
Gradually, however, the first day of the week came into prominence as
an added day, but finally by civil and ecclesiastical authority as a
required observance. The first legislation on this subject was the
famous law of Constantine, enacted 321 AD. The acts of various councils
during the 4th and 5th centuries established the observance of the first
day of the week by ecclesiastical authority, and in the great apostasy
which followed, the rival day obtained the ascendancy. During the
centuries which followed, however, there were always witnesses for the
true Sabbath, although under great persecution. And thus in various
lands, the knowledge of the true Sabbath has been preserved.

Christ came not to destroy or change the law, but to fulfil and to
write them on our hearts so that we would do them out of love for Father
and love for one another and not out of duty or fear of punishment. When
he wrote them on our hearts, he made them even more strict in that we
are no longer judged just by our physical acts but also by the thoughts
and intents of our hearts.
Matt 5:17-19
17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law,
or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.
18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and
earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law,
till all be fulfilled.
19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of
these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the
least in the kingdom of heaven: but
whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the
kingdom of heaven.
Matt 5:21-22
21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of
old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in
danger of the judgment:
22 But I say unto you, That whosoever is
angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the
judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in
danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in
danger of hell fire.
Matt 5:27-28
27 Ye have heard that it was said by them of
old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery:
28 But I say unto you, That whosoever
looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her
already in his heart.
Matt 5:20
20 For I say unto you, That except your
righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and
Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.(They
kept the sabbath along with all the other commandments, but it was not
done out of love but out of hyprocrisy that they might appear to be
rightous unto men.)
Heb 10:16
16 This is the covenant that I will make with them after those
days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their
minds will I write them;
Isa 66:23
23 And it shall come to pass, that from one new
moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh
come to worship before me, saith YAHWEH. (So why shouldn’t we
worship Him on the sabbath now as we have been commanded from the
beginning?)
Col 2:16
16 Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect
of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: (The
Colossians kept the holy days, the new moons, and the sabbaths and were
judged by those who did not keep them.)
John 5:19-20
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them,
Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but
what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also
doeth the Son likewise.
20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth
him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works
than these, that ye may marvel.
John 14:10
10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father,
and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of
myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.
John 14:31
31 But that the world may know that I love the
Father; and as the Father gave me commandment, even so I do.
John 15:15
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the
servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends;
for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto
you.
(Where did Yahshua reveal to us a new commandment to change the
sabbath to the first day of the week?)
Prov 30:5-6
5 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their
trust in him.
6 Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be
found a liar.
Rev 22:18-19
18 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the
prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall
add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:
19 And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this
prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out
of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
Answer: By the commandment of Constantine and the various councils
of the Catholic Church, the sabbath was changed to the first day of the
week. It has become a tradition of men which Yahshua preached against.
Father Yahweh never commanded anywhere in the scriptures to change the
observance of the sabbath.
****************************************************************************
Question #9: Did the 1st century church keep the sabbath
after the resurrection?(Or did they change it to Sunday as the church
would have you believe?)
The Apostles observed the sabbath day 84 TIMES -
JUST IN THE BOOK OF ACTS.
Acts 1:12
12 Then returned they unto Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet,
which is from Jerusalem a sabbath day's journey.
Acts 13:14
14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in
Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and sat
down.
The first century church kept the sabbath.
Acts 13:42
42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles
besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.
Acts 13:44
44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city
together to hear the word of Elohim.
Acts 17:2
2 And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three
sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures,
Acts 18:4
4 And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and
persuaded the Jews and the Greeks. (KJV)
"The festival of Sunday, like all other festivals, was always only a
human ordinance, and it was far from the intentions of the apostles to
establish a divine command in this respect, far from them, and from the
early apostolic church, to transfer the laws of the Sabbath to Sunday.
Perhaps at the end of the 2nd century, a false application of this kind
had begun to take place; for men appear by that time to have considered
laboring on Sunday as a sin" (Tertullian De Orat., c. 23). This
quotation is taken from Rose's Neander, London, 1831, I, 33 f, and is
the correct translation from Neander's first German edition, Hamburg,
1826, I, pt. 2, p. 339. Neander has in his 2nd edition, 1842, omitted
the second sentence, in which he expressly stated that Sunday was only a
human ordinance, but he has added nothing to the contrary. "The
Christians in the ancient church very soon distinguished the first day
of the week, Sunday; however, not as a Sabbath, but as an assembly day
of the church, to study the Word of God together and to celebrate the
ordinances one with another: without a shadow of doubt this took place
as early as the first part of the 2nd century" (Geschichte des Sonntags,
60).

Question #10: Does your
salvation depend upon your keeping the sabbath?
Eph 2:8-9
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
Rom 3:23-25
23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
24 Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is
in Christ Jesus:
25 Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his
blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are
past, through the forbearance of God;
Answer: No more than keeping any of the other commandments, but
there are rewards which He has promised to those who do keep the sabbath
and a lack of rewards for those who do not, Matt. 5
"he shall be called the least in the kingdom of
heaven". Rev. 22:12 "And behold, I come
quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his
work shall be." Rev. 22:14 "Blessed are they that do his
commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may
enter in through the gates into the city." I John 3:22
"And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his
commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight."
Isa 58:13-14 "If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing
thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of
Yahweh, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor
finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt
thou delight thyself in Yahweh; and I will cause thee to ride upon the
high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy
father: for the mouth of Yahweh hath spoken it."
