The first-person account below was written by Azard Essa The supposedly 'deadly ill' Schabir Shaik was released 'on humanitarian grounds to be allowed to die at home' after he was convicted for fraud while running several businesses which obtained large tenders from the ANC-regime. He was known for his close personal ties to SA presdident Jacob Zuma.

Essa wrote that Shaik approached him at the booksigning, picked one up and asked him what the book was about. When Essa replied that 'it was not an anti-Zuma book'; that it dealt with 'present day South African society even the racist and sanctimonious Indian community and the local Muslems' … Shaik allegedly got angry at this remark by the author and reportedly said: "I should have allowed the Zulus to murder the Indians and the Whites in the past. It seems to me that I just wasted my time by going to jail to negotiate with them, I should have just allowed them to get rid of them all.'
