About the Role
St. Andrewâs OCC (Orthodox Church of the Culdees) is seeking a dedicated and visionary woman to step into an entry-level Deaconess role, with the potential to rise to the position of Abbess. This position is ideal for a qualified member in good standing with a calling to ministerial service, administration, and entrepreneurial development in alignment with the historic Celtic Christian tradition.
The Deaconess/Abbess will play a key role in the spiritual, operational, and economic growth of the platform, with a focus on building a self-sustaining community through business and ministry initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
â Ministerial Duties & Spiritual Leadership
- Assist in Celtic Orthodox liturgical services and monastic development.
- Maintain hospitality and outreach ministries in keeping with Celtic traditions.
- Guide and mentor nuns and volunteers within the community.
â Entrepreneurial & Administrative Work
- Develop a business plan to create self-sustaining income for the monastery.
- Oversee and expand profit-generating activities, such as:
- đ Celtic Bookshop & Literature Production
- đ Festivals & Events Hosting
- đ„ Media & Video Content Creation (using provided equipment and platforms)
- đĄ Cleaning & Property Development Services
- đŸ Homestead Farming & Product Sales
- đ„ïž IT Technical & Staffing Opportunities
â Property & Homestead Upkeep
- Oversee maintenance of ministerial grounds and facilities.
- Work with volunteers on agriculture, homestead projects, and property upkeep.
â Media & Public Relations
- Expand outreach and subscription base.
- Utilize provided media equipment for producing video content, outreach, and educational materials.
Compensation & Benefits
- Full housing, utilities, and food covered.
- Negotiable additional compensation for project-based work or hourly pay.
- Free choice in selecting a business focus to generate profit, allowing flexibility in work areas.
- No mandatory income requirements, but maintaining and developing the platform is part of the role.
Qualifications & Expectations
â Female candidate with a strong ministerial calling and ability to lead a growing platform.
â Entrepreneurial mindset, able to develop and implement profit-sustaining projects.
â Administrative and organizational skills, with experience or willingness to manage a ministry.
â Creativity and adaptabilityâable to contribute to Celtic book publishing, festival organizing, video production, or other income-generating projects.
â Commitment to community life and maintaining the integrity of St. Andrewâs OCC.
â Technical skills (preferred but not required) for media work, IT services, or property management.
