Celebrating Saint Eadbert, Bishop of Lindisfarne

Spread the love
Saint Eadbert, Bishop of Lindisfarne, England, from 688 until his death on 6 May 698

Today we celebrated Saint Eadbert. What a great Bishop of Lindisfarne.

I want to admonish you to be encouraged by the past exploits of the Saints who went before us. This is so we follow their great examples, and know we are to walk in those old paths. KJV:

Jer 6:16 “Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls…”

We are told this is something also Elijah will do before the great and terrible day of YAHWEH:

Mal 4:5-6 “Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful Day of Yahweh. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers. Otherwise, I will come and strike the land with a curse.”

Also see:

Mat 5:14 “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. “

Eph 1:18 “The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,”

Although many kings and even the Archbishop of Canterbury pressured Saint Eadbert to obey Rome, he and other Celtic Clergy would would not give in.

Britain was considered under the Jerusalem Patriarchate from old times, however did not strictly follow an obedience from either.

Also the first Bishops of the Jerusalem Church had moved to Glastonbury England: https://celticorthodoxy.com/2020/04/the-jerusalem-church-moved-to-britain-and-the-apostolic-see-of-glastonbury-later-called-the-second-rome-many-1st-2nd-century-british-saints/

The Roman historian Bede wrote about him knowing the Scriptures and following the Old Testament laws, and did not write anything negative about him like he did about other Culdees.

The Culdees’ Apostolic see of Glastonbury itself has more proof and validity of seniority than Rome had. If we were to go by such a structure then it would be with a higher rank from the Culdees.

We sometimes interchange Celtic church with Culdees as these were one people. However Culdees was a name given for the new arriving Judean Christians from Jerusalem in the First Century. Today we call ourselves the “Culdees’ Church”.

While Rome claims succession from Peter, we have that too, and from other Apostles as well who helped build the first Century church of Britain. The Culdees’ early monks were then sent all over Europe.

Consider joining the Orthodox Church of the Culdees today.

Isa 58:12 And they that shall be of thee shall build the old waste places: thou shalt raise up the foundations of many generations; and thou shalt be called, The repairer of thebreach, The restorer of paths to dwell in.
